Sustainability Specialist

Taaleri Bioindustry develops and invests in companies that enable the growth of bioeconomy sector globally. We are now looking for a Sustainability Specialist for a permanent employment at our HQ in Helsinki.
Role Overview and Main Responsibilities:
In this position, you play a critical role in driving Taaleri Bioindustry’s sustainability strategy by ensuring regulatory compliance, integrating ESG considerations into investment decisions, creating value and supporting portfolio companies in advancing their sustainability performance. The role involves overseeing compliance with the EU Sustainable Finance Regulatory Framework, conducting ESG risk assessments, and monitoring sustainability performance across investments. Additionally, the specialist collaborates with asset managers and portfolio companies to develop and implement sustainability roadmaps, ensuring alignment with Net Zero targets and impact goals. The position also includes preparing sustainability reports, engaging with stakeholders, and staying ahead of industry trends to continuously enhance the firm’s ESG approach.
Regulatory Compliance & Monitoring:
- Oversee compliance with the EU Sustainable Finance Regulatory Framework (e.g., SFDR, Taxonomy)
- Conduct risk assessments across ESG topics, e.g. climate risks (using frameworks such as TCFD and TNFD)
Sustainable Investments & Due Diligence:
- Support the investment team in new acquisitions (ESG-DD)
- Ensure that investment decisions align with our funds’ sustainability criteria and impact goals.
- Improve ESG performance by conducting sustainability assessments, monitoring investments, and utilizing PAI indicators beyond reporting.
Asset Development from a Sustainability Perspective:
- Collaborate with asset managers to advance the funds’ sustainability strategies and compliance.
- Develop and drive sustainability roadmaps for assets, supporting ESG improvements and the fund's Net Zero ambition.
Portfolio Company Support & Development:
- Collaborate closely with portfolio companies to advance their sustainability strategies and compliance.
- Provide hands-on guidance for implementing sustainability reporting and impact measurement, and organize relevant training and workshops as needed.
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Prepare sustainability reports by collecting, processing, and managing data for internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare fund-level sustainability strategy and reporting, such as periodic reports and PAI reports.
- Engage with industry networks and regulatory bodies to stay ahead of sustainability trends.
What We Expect from You:
- Genuine interest in ESG, sustainable finance, the green transition, and sustainable development.
- Master's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in sustainable investment, asset management, or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of EU Sustainable Finance regulations (e.g., SFDR, Taxonomy, CSRD) and ESG reporting frameworks.
- Experience in ESG due diligence, risk assessments, and sustainable investment strategies.
- Proven ability to collaborate with portfolio companies, asset managers, and other stakeholders to drive sustainability initiatives.
- Proactive mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills in English and Finnish.
